The greatest event of the year for Apple lived up to the hype when the firm showed off its new iPhone lineup for 2025. Held at its Cupertino headquarters, the showcase introduced four devices — the all-new iPhone Air, and the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max.
For the first time, Apple has given all models a 120Hz refresh rate, something previously reserved only for the Pro editions. The new series brings back the metal frame design and adds better cameras, brighter displays, and a powerful new processor.
The iPhone Air was the clear star of the launch. At just 5.6mm thick, it is currently Apple’s thinnest iPhone. Despite its sleek profile, Apple says it’s also the most durable, thanks to a titanium frame and ceramic shield protection.
It features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology, supporting up to 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3000 nits.
Underneath, the phone runs on the A19 Pro chip, Apple’s most powerful mobile processor yet, also used in the 17 Pro models. Connectivity is handled by the C1x modem — twice as fast as its predecessor — and the new N1 chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
On the camera side, the iPhone Air comes with a 48MP Fusion system paired with a 12MP telephoto lens, while selfies get an upgrade with an 18MP front camera that supports Center Stage. Handy features like the Action Button and Camera Control offer instant access to functions and visual intelligence tools.
Even with its slim build, the iPhone Air promises up to 40 hours of video playback. To create more room for the battery, the device is eSIM-only worldwide.
